Three subjects, taught properly

Narrow on purpose. These are the subjects I can teach to the level Howard County schools actually demand, so these are the only ones I take.

Reading & English

Decoding and fluency work for younger readers, then comprehension, analysis, and essay craft as the reading gets harder. Sessions are built around whatever the student is actually being assigned in class.

Math

From number sense through calculus. We work the current unit first so grades stabilize, then backfill the gaps underneath that are causing the trouble in the first place.

Science

Concept-first tutoring. Most science struggles are really reading struggles or math struggles wearing a lab coat, so we find out which one it is and fix that alongside the content.

How it works

No contracts, no enrollment fee, no sales call disguised as a consult.

  1. 01

    Free consult

A 30-minute call to hear what's going on — the grade, the class, the teacher, and what's already been tried. No charge, no pitch.

  2. 02

    Diagnostic

A short written assessment that finds the real gap. A student struggling in Algebra II is often missing something from seventh grade, and it helps to know which thing.

  3. 03

    A plan you can read

You get a one-page plan: what we're working on, in what order, and what should change by when. Written in plain English, not education jargon.

  4. 04

    Weekly sessions

We work the current unit first so grades stabilize, then backfill the gaps underneath. You get a short note after every session.

Where we meet

I’m based in Howard County and I travel across it. In-person sessions happen at your kitchen table, at a branch of the Howard County Library, or at a quiet coffee shop — your call. Virtual sessions run over Zoom with a shared whiteboard, and they work better than most parents expect.

Families outside the county are welcome virtually. I know the HCPSS curriculum and calendar well, which means I know what’s coming on the next unit test.
