Subjects & pricing

Every rate is on this page. No enrollment fee, no materials fee, no contract, and no charge until after the free consult and diagnostic. Rates are per hour and follow the course being tutored, not the student’s grade.

Reading & English

Decoding and fluency work for younger readers, then comprehension, analysis, and essay craft as the reading gets harder. Sessions are built around whatever the student is actually being assigned in class.

Billing questions, answered

How long is a session?
One hour by default. Ninety minutes is available at 1.5× the hourly rate and is usually the better choice for AP courses and test prep, where an hour tends to end right when the student finally hits their stride.
When do I pay?
After the free consult and diagnostic, and never before. Single sessions are billed the day of. Packs are paid up front — that discount is what you're trading the commitment for. Zelle, Venmo, check, or card.
What's the cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 48 hours ahead and the session goes back in your pack, no charge. Inside 48 hours, the session is billed — the slot was held and it's usually too late to fill it. Genuine emergencies and sick kids are not billed; just tell me.
Do packs expire?
The 4-pack expires 3 months from purchase, the 8-pack in 6 months, the 16-pack in 9 months. If life gets in the way, email me and I'll extend it. I've never actually let a pack die on someone.
Which rate applies if my student is between levels?
The rate follows the course, not the grade. A seventh grader in Algebra I is billed at the grades 6–8 rate for the course being tutored. If a student is taking a high school course early, that's the high school rate.
Is virtual cheaper than in-person?
No — same rate, same prep, same hour. The only price difference is a $10 travel add-on for in-home sessions beyond a 15-mile radius of Columbia, which most of Howard County falls inside.

Not sure which level applies?

That’s what the free consult is for. Tell me the course and the problem, and I’ll tell you the rate and whether I’m the right person for it.
